Pyjamas Party Page 3 WIP - SketchUp

Description

The is me experiencing with a new way of getting the environment right in the comic I'm currently working on.
I have spend a lot of hours modelling up the room in Google Sketchup. But then, most of the 19 pages in Pyjamas Party take place in this room, so I think i can save time in the end.

Next step is to draw in the sketch lineart, before removing the SketchUp screen shots from the page again. After that I'll print the sketches on drawing paper with light blue ink and line it up the old fashioned way. :D

This is not a solution I'd advice to people unless they are sketchUp experts that can create something really fast, or they need to use the same environment a lot of times. But if you need just that, SketchUp really is an awesome (and free) tool.

This is a great idea! If you do a comic using the same room/house a lot, once youre done doing the 3D-modulation, you'll have ALL the angles and shots of background you need (but not keeping the 3D model as the background is a good idea as well ... it tends to look a little cheap ~_^ ).

Oh, and yes, SketchUp is a great modelling-tool, if you do not need a solid-cat 3D-program (my students hate the fact, that they need to use SolidWorks for component-drawing, when SketchUp is right there ^___^ )
