My first entry for the Miss OC Pageant here on DA. 
I thought it was a great idea, and thought I'd hurry up and enter my contestant, before someone else used my rather obvious joke first. 
Chrystel from my neglicted webcomic. [link] - Originally I thought about posting Stereotype Devil from the same comic. But I realised Chrystel would be a lot more fun.
Technically Chrystel's a great pageant contestant. She's genuinely sweet and caring, and she is very pretty.
However, Chrystel suffers from very low self confidence, and tend to mess up everything she's trying to succeed in. Here's hoping it will not rub off on any other contestants or the contest in general.
And no! Angels are *not* supposed to fall flat on their face stepping down a stairway. In fact, the very thought of an angel tripping is ridiculous. Not to mention that angels have wings, which should stop them from actually hitting the earth should the unthinkable happen and they trip...

Overall Vision Originality Technique ImpactWell, what i'd do for a picture like this is simply draw it bigger and resize it afterwards. It looks like you neglected to draw and shade some details because the character is so small.
Now, on the stairs, you have the right idea on alternating colors to give the stairs depth, but you did it backwards. The stepping part of the stairs is of the same material and is at the same angle as the floor, so they should be the same color. Shade the vertical parts of the stairs instead, so the stairs don't look so out of place. As well, the bottom step seems to be missing that vertical part. Finally, the steps themselves are too small. Make'em bigger.
There's not much to say about the character herself. Looks great, good job. Excellent wings.
